Posse Supplies & Equipment

The following is a recommended packing list for Posse members:

Clothing

  • Boots (waterproof)
  • Polypropylene long underwear
  • Wool or Polar fleece shirt or sweater
  • Wool or Polar fleece pants
  • Wool socks
  • Gloves
  • Waterproof gloves
  • Watch cap, Neck gaiter or balaclava
  • Rain Gear (no ponchos)
  • Extra warm jacket (no down)

Tack

  • Cantle pack or saddle bags
  • Halter and bridle
  • Stout lead line
  • Saddle and pads
  • Feed for (2) feedings and feed bag

Horse

  • Fly spray or wipe
  • Hoof pick
  • 1 roll Vet wrap or polo bandage
  • Betadine solution
  • Grooming brush or mit

Equipment

  • Cook stove
  • Small pot
  • Cup and utensils
  • 6 meals and snacks
  • 3 quarts (minimum) water
  • Water purification tablets or filter
  • Flashlight with extra batteries and bulb
  • Pocket knife or Leathermen type multi-tool
  • Compass
  • Whistle
  • Toiletpaper or Tissues
  • (2) 33 gallon garbage bags
  • 50 feet of nylon rope
  • Ground cloth or survival blanket
  • Fire starters
  • Waterproof matches and lighter
  • Sleeping bag
  • Equine and Human 1st Aid kits
